BROOKES

Georgia Brookes is the Head of Financial Crime Investigations (FCI) within NAB’s Financial Crime Risk Mitigation (FCRM) division. She leads the bank’s high-risk anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing investigations unit, with a strong focus on government engagement. Georgia also serves as NAB’s lead representative to the Fintel Alliance and oversees strategic partnerships, including memoranda of understanding with both the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and the Queensland Police Service.

Prior to joining NAB, Georgia spent 12 years with the AFP, where she attained the rank of Detective Sergeant. During her tenure in Counter-Terrorism, she led the AFP’s contribution to the Whole-of-Government approach to countering violent extremism and was deployed to Sri Lanka to assist in the investigation of the 2019 Easter bombings.

Under Georgia’s leadership, FCI spearheads NAB’s public-private partnerships targeting child sexual exploitation and other human impact crimes. In March 2025, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recognised NAB’s pioneering work in this space in its global best practice paper, Detecting, Disrupting and Investigating Online Child Sexual Exploitation. NAB was highlighted for its world-leading collaboration with the AFP-led Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE), particularly in combating financial sexual extortion of children.
