DALINS

Janis Dalins was the Australian Federal Police’s founding Co-Director of the AiLECS Lab, a joint AFP/Monash University research centre. Between 2002 and 2025 he served in the AFP in a variety of areas including Counter Terrorism, General Duties (uniform) policing, Airport Investigations, Digital Forensics and Digital Surveillance Collection. Dr Dalins’ PhD was awarded in 2019 for his applied research into the use of machine learning and intelligent automation in policing. His work at ICMEC Australia continues into the use of artificial intelligence and data science more broadly in countering CSE, with a particular focus upon ethics and accountability.
