Updates from the AiLECS Lab - testing data poisoning and uplifting victim and survivor voices.

Join us for a presentation on the AiLECS Lab as we share our technology and socio-technical developments over the last year. This includes an update on our data poisoning project Silverer - a proof of concept tool which can inhibit the ability for images to be used for generative AI and RAISR - recommendations based on victims and survivor perspectives on the use of child abuse material in institutional settings. As well as this, we will share news of a newly funded research project focussed on understanding “capping” and other project updates.

The Ai for Law Enforcement and Community Safety Lab or AiLECS is a partnership between the Australian Federal Police and Monash University’s Faculty of Information Technology. Focussed not only on how technological advancements such as AI can support operational priorities for law enforcement, the Lab also focuses on what “ethics by design” means for the implementation of such technology in law enforcement. While our projects span many different applications such as firearm detection, our flagship area of work is in countering child exploitation.
