Digital Forensics and Collaboration in the Jimiko and Kui Buri Investigations
This presentation examines two child exploitation investigations in Thailand, Case Jimiko and Case Kui Buri, and the role of digital forensics in supporting the investigations.
Case Jimiko, conducted in July 2025 in Roi Et province, targeted the distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material through livestreaming platforms including Discord. The investigation involved collaboration between Thai authorities and specialist NGO partners, with digital forensics forming a key component of the operation. MSAB XRY and XAMN PRO were used alongside other forensic tools to examine digital devices and recover evidence relevant to the investigation.
Case Kui Buri, conducted in March 2025 in Prachuap Khiri Khan, involved the arrest of a teacher accused of sexually exploiting school students. The examination of the suspect's devices, including three mobile phones, two cameras, two hard drives and a computer, resulted in the recovery of almost 20,000 CSAM files. MSAB technology was used as part of the digital forensic examination and analysis of the seized devices.
Through these two cases, the presentation will demonstrate the practical application of MSAB XRY and XAMN PRO in real-world investigations, while highlighting how collaboration between law enforcement, digital forensic specialists and specialist organisations can support investigations involving the exploitation of children.
