Dr Gaelle Brotto

Driven by a passion for fostering social change, Dr Gaëlle is an academic specialising in Psychology and Criminology. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Lille 3 (France), and both a Master's (by Research) and a PhD in Criminology from Bond University (Australia). Her research centres on victimology, criminal motivations, the victim/offender overlap, intimate partner violence, and childhood maltreatment.

Dr Gaëlle is also a collaborator on the Safe Online funded research project, Shifting Towards Best Practice Responses for Unknowing Victim-Survivors of Capping and Related CSAM Offences, led by the AiLECS Lab at Bond University. Her expertise contributes to strengthening the evidence base surrounding victimisation, offending dynamics, and trauma-informed responses to emerging forms of online child sexual exploitation.

Beyond academia, she is deeply committed to harnessing sport as a catalyst for societal transformation. She seeks to combine her expertise and enthusiasm to advance initiatives aimed at reducing gender-based violence. By leveraging the universal language of sport, she aspires to help build a more inclusive, empathetic society rooted in fairness, respect, and equality.
