Mr. Kirk was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina and lived all over the US growing up. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Arizona in 2011 with a certificate in International Law. He earned Bachelor of Arts degree in Asian Studies and Chinese Language from Brigham Young University in 2008. Prior to working for the FBI, Mr. Kirk worked as an analyst for the US Department of Defense.
Mr. Kirk entered on duty as a Special Agent (SA) of the FBI on August 21, 2016. From 2017 through 2022, SA Kirk was assigned to the Phoenix Division and worked out of the Tucson office, which covered a vast swath of the Southwest border. In 2022, SA Kirk promoted to Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) of the Counterintelligence Division. SSA Kirk reported to Kuala Lumpur as the Assistant Law Enforcement Attaché on 30 June, 2024.
