Jan van der Helm joined the Dutch National Police (DNP) in 2013 in the Rotterdam region, where he conducted investigations into general crime and homicide cases. In 2018, he transitioned to the national Child Sexual Exploitation Investigations Team, serving both as a detective and as an Interventions Specialist. In that role, he contributed to the development of evidence based alternative interventions for individuals downloading CSAM, including offender-focused prevention strategies and the creation of deterrence measures. In his previous position Jan served as an advisor within the National Expertise Team on Sexual Crimes. He also represented the Dutch National Police in EMPACT CSE for the last 4 years, and, as such, involved in leading a number of operational actions. Jan holds master's degrees in law from the Radboud University and in Criminal Investigation from the Dutch Police Academy.
